🚀 Subtitle Workshop is Here! 🚀

We’re incredibly excited to announce the release of Subtitle Workshop, a powerful yet easy-to-use tool designed specifically for adding subtitles to video game projects! 🎉

Originally developed as an internal tool while working on Going Down, we needed a way to efficiently create and integrate subtitles into our Game Maker project. Before Subtitle Workshop, writing subtitle files was a tedious, manual process—every line had to be formatted by hand, and every timestamp had to be found manually. It was slow, frustrating, and not exactly ideal when dealing with hours of dialogue.

So we built a tool to speed things up, simplify the workflow, and make localisation easier. Now, instead of painstakingly writing subtitle files, we can scrub through audio, add precise subtitles with metadata, and export everything in a structured format. And we realised—this could help other game developers too!

🔧 Beta Release – We Need Your Feedback!

While we’ve used Subtitle Workshop extensively in our own projects, this is still beta software. There will almost certainly be bugs, quirks, and unexpected issues, but we’re committed to fixing them as soon as possible.

🎮 Built for Game Maker, but Adaptable

Subtitle Workshop was created for Game Maker, but the .sbtl format is JSON-based, meaning other engines could potentially use it too. While official integration is for Game Maker only (for now), devs working in other engines might be able to adapt it.
